Nz birding big day

I would like to propose that on January 1st, each year, we have a big birding day exercise. It could easily be divided into different regions and run through eBird. Groups of two people or more can start at midnight on December 31st and finish at midnight on January 1st. I have never had so much fun doing the first big day with Petrina and Grant. It's a fun way to do some birding and set up a bit of competition between the different regions and approaches. The counts are done on ebird.
