Waimanu Lagoon Waikanae

Postby GrahamB » Sun Jan 12, 2014 10:16 am

Hi,
just a heads up for those not yet aware: the main lagoon at Waikanae has been partially drawn down (presumably for repair or maintenance) so that there is an extensive littoral exposed. It is very 'birdy' at the moment as a result and a Black-fronted Dotterel was seen and photographed by Roger Smith on Friday afternoon. I had a look yesterday and did not see one, nor this morning on an early morning circuit to look for the White Ibis at Peka Peka.

Definitely worth a regular check now.

Cheers,

GrahamB

That's useful to know, as I'll be up that way tomorrow and Wednesday - thanks Graham.

Lagoon is now refilling - a pity in some ways.
