More from BIRDING-NZ

BOB is in fact M-BOB (metal on left, blue over orange over blue on right). Banded as a first year at Omaha in 1992, so currently about 17.5 years old. First recorded breeding at Waiwera in the 1995/96 season, and has bred there every year since. I’ve replaced his bands twice in that time. Since 95/96, BOB has had four different mates; three of them have been banded and all seem to have disappeared (=died) rather than being divorced.

BOB is still at Waiwera - latest sighting I have is 29 June. Ted need not worry; BOB is reported regularly.
