Reading Horatio Clare's "Down to the sea in ships" atm.

He talks about the number of birds that commonly travel aboard the container ships he's been on, which I thought pretty interesting.

Mainly Swallows, but several other species that make complete voyages to different countries, aboard these floating habitats.

It suggest that the idea of vagrant birds usually arriving here under their own steam probably needs rethinking.
