My bird book for kids (8-12yrs) will be launched in Okura at the village hall (3pm). Two kids competitions, a bird painting competition and a bird mask competition (mask to be worn to the launch). Prizes are signed copies of the book. Get the paper, pens, scissors and paint out and inspire your kids to busy.
All proceeds from the sale of books will go to 'Friends Of Okura Bush' - a great cause. They are helping organise the launch.
The aim of the book is to encourage kids to stop and look around them at the animals that share their neighbourhood. The first step to becoming aware of the natural world around us and hopefully starting a new hobby watching and learning about birds.
Book is called A Magpie Collection subtitle Neighbours with Feathers and is based on the birds seen at Okura.
