Earlier today I was sent a bit of audio that a workmate of mine recorded on 17/04/24. I've since shared this with a few birders and current thinking is that it is possibly a nankeen night heron. It sounds similar to a few calls that have been recorded that I'll also link below.
The bird wasn't seen but sounded as though it was circling at canopy height over a clearing / group of houses in the Bush just behind Franz Josef. I'll head there tonight and give it a good look.
