Minor typo, I'm sure you mean there is a good chance ibis do the same thing (not spoonbills).

Remember...Glossy ibis are very nervous birds, same as spoonbills, will desert their nests if disturbed by humen, leave eggs & chicks for harriers to eat. Glossy ibises are beautiful colourful birds.

I think you guys are right as I have never seen them gathering nesting material and it seems logical that they would breed near Royal spoonbill. I have noticed when then are feeding on the river that the pukeko and stilts tend to chase them away so I would expect them to breed in isolation or where not disturbed by other waders.

Tonight at 5.45 saw 6 glossy ibis fly over our house-a beautiful sight. Also we have a white heron on our river curiously showing breeding plumage.

Saw 3 birds in breeding plumage feeding at the end of seal on Dillons Point road near Blenheim beside a irrigation gun on your left as you drive down.

Saw 4 Glossy Ibis (2 adults and 2 juvenile) this morning at the Blenheim WTP lagoon on the usual island amongst the Spoonbills. Fantastic sight. The juvenilles were on the far end of the island and the adults were on the end closest to the public walking track. The adults stayed around for about half an hour and then flew off.

Cheers
