No sign of any ibis at Foxton Beach. No interesting rare birds this summer.

Checked the WTP, lagoons, Swamp and Dillons Pt Road paddocks yesterday morning to no avail. Although there was a Royal spoonbill with a twisted leg partway down the Wairau walkway. It was approachable and could still fly/feed, but may be worth keeping an eye out for. Highlight of the area was a small flock of Cirl bunting!

This week have seen 2 glossy ibis on last grass paddock on Dillons Point Road before you turn onto shingle. They feed in a wet paddock and don't seem to be to concerned about eye spotters!!

I missed them at the WTP when I visited two weeks ago.

But was treated to a flock of atleast 5 Cirl buntings, and 8 Black fronted dotterels in the salt/sand pans to the south of the car park.

Great news about the Black fronted dotterel; have also heard that some have been seen down at Lake Grassmere. Cirl Bunting always a good find. Did you see anything down at the Wairau bar?

Saw 3 glossy ibis on our wetland last night at the end of Dillons Point road, near Blenheim. In the evenings not unusual to see 2-3 birds flying over property or along Opaoa river.

There may be three or more nests at the WTP. The chicks are flying and getting around the ngaio but they are still being fed by the adults

Sorry for the pointless-post, but I'm really surprised by how eBird reports of the glossy ibis at the WTP have all but dried up already... Do you know where they might have dispersed to?
