Hi David, Happy New Year to you. I have heard whisperings of a mysterious small plover in your neck of the woods. Do you know if there are any photos?
All the best
Tim

ps Better still, you could just hurry it along to the BoP.

No sign of any interesting plovers at Miranda yesterday (morning and afternoon), though didn't manage to track down the majority of the huge golden plover flock. Best bird was a glossy ibis that flew over the hide and landed in the paddocks on the other side of the road.

Unfortunately I haven't managed to take a photo. If anyone has taken a photo of this bird, and can post it, it may help people see just what it really looks like please.

The Grey Plover was present 7-8am this morning, spotted by Gillian and seen by the Miranda Field Course participants. It was directly in front of the Godwit hide near the channel preening for a good part of the time.

Hard to find earlier in the evening, but the Grey Plover showed really well in lovely light from 7.45 to 8.05 this evening. For all of that 20mins It was where Gillian spotted it this morning, out in front of the Godwit hide on the edge of the stream

Bigger and greyer than PGPs, also plainer breast, big eye and distinctly heavier bill, and of course the black axillaries which it flashed several times

The Plover was present on the stream in front of the Godwit hide from 7:00am to 7:30am this morning, before moving to the Limeworks to hide in the sarcocornia with the Golden plovers.

Third time lucky, it was in front of hide first thing this morning, quite obvious size difference with PGP.
