Chris Longman-Sinclair found a dead juvenile tropicbird on Matapouri Beach in Northland today.

With the amount of black on primaries would indicate a White Tailed surely.

Had a look for the bird today at Matapouri to see if I could get some additional photos. Searched the entire beach, high tide line, dunes and nearby estuary entrance beach but no luck. Very high tides at mo would probably have swept it away overnight. The finder mentioned they saw it below the high tide line, and also that the entrails were eaten out, so apparently not a brilliant specimen. Would have been great to see (especially if it had been during last weekends pelagic). Cheers Scott
