Male Chestnut-breasted Shelduck, Blackmount

Postby Liam Ballard » Sat Apr 21, 2018 8:41 am

A gorgeous male Chestnut-breasted Shelduck was seen by about 25 of us c.200m from Borland Lodge, near Blackmount. The bird was associating with numerous Paradise Shelducks in fields just east (?) of the lodge. Many of us got photos and I'm sure someone will post a stunner soon enough, but for now we are wifi-less and almost computer-less so mine will have to do. The chestnut breast is very obvious, as is the ring around the neck. Credit goes to George Hobson, who spotted the bird, and David Thomas who shuttled us YB's to down the road to see it.
