The Lake Killarney dabchick is resident there most of the year and has been for the last five or six years. Each spring and thru summer there is usually a mate there as well. They can sometimes be seen visiting the tidal estuaries around the local area too. We have watched for the pair to breed, but so far nothing, though they do build nests at different points around the lake. A possible issue is the large red-eared slider turtle also in the lake.
