Local news article on falcon in Hamilton: http://www.stuff.co.nz/environment/8124 ... ngthy-stay
I was leaning towards young male in the photos I was sent yesterday, but phone pics left me hesitant. It will be very interesting if anyone sees a female falcon in the city.

Dad saw a falcon near the boat ramp, Grantham Street, Hamilton, on Sunday. That's across the river from the Regional Council office where one was noted earlier in this thread.

Had a good view of a Falcon in Taupahi St Turangi yesterday.

Local friend and conservationist tells me that there are two pairs in the immediate area.

Also saw a juvenile near the Chateau turnoff, National Park last month.

Pretty chuffed as I hadn't really had a good look at one till then.

Spent half an hour watching a Karearea next to our house chasing a hedgehog and picking up sticks and grass in an harvested maize paddock on south city boundary.

Darn, this makes me jealous! I wonder why they went extinct in Auckland and Northland?
