This website is for the distribution of information relating to birding and wild birds in New Zealand. The discussion forums are for sharing information about rare and unusual bird sightings, birding events, birding locations, and general information relating to New Zealand wild birds to other interested birders.

Forum Guidelines

Registration is required to post on the forums but it is free. This is to minimize casual unregistered visitors from accessing member email addresses and other information and to minimise comment spam.

No commercial advertisements are permitted in the forums. Advertisements for legitimate cost-sharing trips may be posted in the Birding forum. Members may add a single internet link to their signature lines for promotion, such as of birding tours or related products or services that they provide.

Dialog should remain courteous and civil to maintain a friendly atmosphere in the forums. Posts contrary to the intended use of these forums may be edited or deleted by BirdingNZ moderators. Report offensive posts to the forum moderators using the "!" link in the post. Repeated offenses by posters may force suspension of the member(s) from the forums.

Posting Guidelines

Images may be posted in the Birding forum for the purpose of assisting with bird identification or to show interesting behaviour. Images should not exceed 200 kilobytes nor should they exceed 700 pixels on the longest side. There is a maximum of three images allowed per post. Images posted outside these guidelines may be removed.

Avatars and Signatures

A personalised avatar and signature line is allowed in the forums. Avatars should be jpeg or gif format and not exceed 80 pixels by 80 pixels in size.

One line of self-promotion of your birding related endeavour is allowed in signature lines. Signature lines should contain text only. Members may be asked to edit signatures that are excessively long or distracting.
