ID Challenge #3 - closes 14 September 2010
Something a bit different this month. Turn up your speakers, listen to the sound clip and tell us what bird you think it is.
Answers for this challenge are due by replying to this topic by midnight (NZST) on Tuesday 14 September 2010.

Would have been nice to have a bit more of the sound, but I think it is a tui if the song was a bit more rapid I would say bellbird, but then it could have been a number of things like a hawk also.

That's not what I was expecting! Well it's not a wader as far as I know. But it might be a Brown Quail.

I'm not sure if I have heard this bird before, maybe in Oz?
But knowing the penchant you guys have for all things around Auckland and especially Tiritiri,
I think it's a Brown Quail call.
Really, it's too bad, when are we S Islanders going to get something you lot don't have? I'll get it
wrong of course but at least I'll feel wanted.

Part of the flight call of a tui? It sounds a bit high pitched but I can't place this with anything else with which I'm familiar, so I'll go with Tui.
