Vagrant seal

I saw these photos of a fur seal taken on Rangitoto Island by Brad Windust 5 days ago and wondered if this was a subantarctic fur seal - then Dave Boyle suggested perhaps an Antarctic fur seal.

There have been 1-2 very similar looking animals on Rangatira, in the Chathams, for at least the last 6-7 years

They look like a good match for subantarctic fur seal to me
