George Hobson shot this cool footage of the Southern Right Whale that was sighted in Wellington Harbour off Petone beach earlier today:

Re: Southern Right Whale, Wellington Harbour
The Southern Right Whale is showing well near the ferry terminal today. I saw it this morning between the ferry terminal and Kaiwharawhara Stream outlet. Foot access was via the terminal car park. People are still posting photos of it on Facebook (breaching and swimming around) at the moment so it is still there.

Re: Southern Right Whale, Wellington Harbour
Since Wednesday, this whale has had a very high profile in the news media with photos, video footage and news reports in all the main NZ newspapers, RNZ News, Newshub/3 News and TVNZ One News, as well as overseas publications such as The Guardian.
It has continued to be present in the harbour this week, mostly in the area near the Interislander ferry terminal, but also off the Queen's Wharf area and over towards Oriental Bay. Most spectacular has been its sporadic breaching.
