Hi folks is this what is currently accepted by NZ taxonomists ?
Fringilla coelebs ssp. gengleri, British Chaffinch
I see in the 4th edition checklist that it says that it requires critical evaluation.
Any thoughts folks ?
Cheers

Re: Fringilla coelebs ssp. gengleri, British Chaffinch
It appears to have been evaluated some time ago https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF01687273 I can't find the full article but then it would take some effort to read it, it being in German. The abstract probably says enough and I would expect the ancestors of our Chaffinches to be British so am not surprised.
It sounds like it should have been good work so not sure what has changed in the interim.
