Hudsonian Whimbrel in Victoria, Australia

Postby Michael Szabo » Tue Dec 14, 2021 4:34 pm

John Alan photographed a Hudsonian Whimbrel at Toora in Victoria, Australia, recently on 10 December and reported it via Facebook.

This is timely a reminder to check any Whimbrels in NZ to see if they are Asian Whimbrel or Hudsonian Whimbrel, as there are no accepted records of the latter in NZ yet.

Hudsonian Whimbrels have a cinnamon-buff toned underwing while Asian Whimbrels have a more greyish tone.
