First record of Baird's Sandpiper in eastern Polynesia

Postby Michael Szabo » Fri Sep 16, 2022 3:11 pm

There is a short note with photos in the latest issue of 'Notornis' (Vol 69 Part, 3 Sept 2022) reporting the first record of Baird's Sandpiper in eastern Polynesia. The authors, Simon Ducatez and Jayna L. DeVore, saw it on 10th November 2021 on Tahuna Iti (a.k.a. Bird Island), a motu that is part of Tetiaroa Atoll, which is 42 kilometres north of Tahiti.
