50+ Wood Sandpipers in Australia

More than 50 Wood Sandpipers have turned up in Australia over the past 2 weeks so it's worth checking for them and other interesting waders in NZ this weekend, as per map and photos below.

Other waders in Australia at the moment include 1 Little Whimbrel, 1 Broad-billed Sandpiper, a single flock of 21 Grey Plovers, 3 Common Sandpipers, 1 Common Greenshank, 2 Greater Sand Plovers, 1 Mongolian Plover (previously Lesser Sand Plover), and 1 Marsh Sandpiper.

Hi Michael.

I believe a Little Curlew now in Cairns, along with a Laughing Gull also.

I believe Little Curlew was what he meant by saying Little Whimbrel (as that's whats on NZBirdsOnline)

Three Oriental Plovers reported near Tinaroo in Queensland yesterday by Matt Cornish.
