New shearwater species identified, Midway Atoll

Biologists have described a new species of seabird, Bryan’s shearwater (Puffinus bryani), based on a specimen collected in 1963 on Midway Atoll in the northwestern Hawaiian Islands:

And the rest of the story is that it may already be extinct.
