Birds feature on two of Fiji's new coins

Postby Mxyzptlk » Tue Dec 18, 2012 11:21 am

On 12.12.12 Fiji launched its new coins and banknotes. For the first time in 78 years the British monarch no longer appears on the currency of the Republic. HM's place on the coins has been supplanted by assorted indigenous fauna and flora. The 20 cents shows a Kaka (Kadavu Shining Parrot). The new $2 coin sports a Ga ni Vatu (Perigrine).

Only coin images I have are low res. Note images comiing. [Pigeon Post has been slowed by the cyclone.]
