Paul Walbridge has posted several close-up photos of Coral Sea Storm Petrel taken during a pelagic trip from Southport in Australia on Saturday 21st April. He says this is the first appearance of Coral Sea Storm-Petrel on this trip "after a years absence". The images are linked below:

"I believe there was only one individual and show the most representative ID features below from first appearance to last:
- There is a notch from damage in the right wing inner primary
- A right wing primary became misplaced when the bird reappeared at 10:07am and remained like that for the rest of the trip
- There are a few shorter rectrices growing in.
- Damage to the left wing primaries can be seen in certain lighting.
- Streaking pattern on body the same on photos of earliest bird and latest bird."
