It seems that the Young Birders NZ website hasn't been up for a while: https://www.youngbirdersnz.com/
Does anyone know what happened?

My guess is that it was forgotten and that whoever owned the web domain stopped paying for the domain name.

Re: what happened to young birders nz?
Young Birders NZ was most active between 2015 and 2019, when there was a strong core group of young birders around the country who knew each other well and worked on it together; unfortunately most of us graduated high school between 2018-2020, and after we left the parameters of young birders unfortunately it didn't kick on. I believe Birds New Zealand still hope to keep it around?
I'm sure lots of the original team would be happy to offer some advice / guidance to anybody who takes over the club; I know we all really loved it and are still really good mates. Hopefully someone comes along and picks it up again!

How would someone pick it up again?

I'd get in touch with Birds New Zealand (https://www.birdsnz.org.nz/contact/) and say you have an interest. They will have more information about what they would like to do with the Young Birders wing.
