Young birders/bird watchers NZ

Postby Amber Calman » Fri Jun 12, 2015 10:58 am

Are there many young birders or bird watchers in New Zealand?
Being a young birder myself I would like to know if there are many more or very few.

If you are a member of Birds NZ/OSNZ I could put you in touch with some other young people.
They don't post on this forum, though.

I have a friend that likes watching birds but not really a birder.

Have not seen many rare birds myself. Well, I've seen a Black Falcon and a WWBT.

Hello! It's my 15th birthday today. If you are ever in Auckland young birder I'd love to point you in the direction of some new birds (Such as Kokako, Shore Plover, Nz Dotterel, Spotless Crake) I know you have just seen Coot and Dabchick, but they are much more common up here :) It's balanced out with you being able to see Robins, Creepers, Redpolls and Dunnocks etc. which we don't get!
