Albatross/mollymawk (dead) Waikanae Estuary

Postby GrahamB » Mon Mar 01, 2021 1:26 pm

A knocked-about albatross/mollymawk corpse about halfway along the Waikanae Estuary spit (sea side), at top of a really big king tide (c. 12.30 this afternoon). My guess would be a Black-browed Mollymawk. Very birdy along the spit - a higher sea running could possibly have overtopped it. Nice mob of White-fronted Terns, a dozen or so Caspian Terns, and scattered Variable Oystercatchers among the horde of Black-backed Gulls.
Cheers,
GrahamB
