The 2025 Birds New Zealand Conference and AGM will be held in Auckland during King’s Birthday weekend (31st May-2nd June). All events and meals will be at the Novotel & IBIS Auckland Ellerslie Hotel.
The plenary speakers will be Professor Dianne Brunton of the School of Biological Science at the University of Auckland and Matt Maitland, Senior Ranger Open Sanctuaries for Auckland Council. She will present “Highlights from 35 years of researching birdsong, behaviour, and conservation in New Zealand” and he will present a "20 year retrospective of Tāwharanui Open Sanctuary".
As usual, there will be over 40 presentations and talks, many opportunities to meet with other ornithologists, researchers and bird-enthusiasts, and a range of post-conference guided field trips. This is the largest annual conference about NZ birds and bird research. The 2024 annual conference held in Nelson was attended by over 200 people.
