Lots of eggs in a twin pukeko nest

Postby andrewcrossland » Thu Nov 18, 2021 9:27 pm

I’ve been doing pre-works breeding bird checks at a number of civil engineering projects that chuh city council is progressing at the moment. One of the contractors told me of twin pukeko nests that held an impressive 22 eggs. I had a look today - only 19 eggs (it seems 3 have either hatched or been stolen by a predator), but pretty cool nonetheless!
