I noticed in the latest checklist, and on NZBirds Online, that there are apparently cockatoos established in Wainuiomata. I couldn't see anything mentioned on this forum about them, and Google mostly was just repeating that they were in Wainuiomata without anything further being added.
So are there cockatoos there, and if so - whereabouts?

I saw them a few times in the Catchpool valley in the mid 1990s. DOC staff who lived on site at the time saw them regularly.
I have not heard reports of them for more than 20 years, but have not asked (and have fewer reasons to visit the area than I did when employed in the local DOC conservancy office).
