unknown bird call

This call was sent in by a hunter from the Motu area
Only heard after dark. and has been heard on and off for 8 months.

Any ideas?

Mystery solved. It is recordings of petrels being played through a speaker. In the hope of establishing a colony based on the idea they probably fly right over the east coast.
