Little Grebes nesting

Postby ledzep » Wed Jan 01, 2014 8:17 pm

The pair of Little Grebe on the pond in Ormiston Road (Waipu) look like they are nesting. Also a pair of Grey Duck on the pond which look to be reasonably pure Grey Duck.

Yes, pond is on private property but easily visible from public road. Standing on the road facing north, nest is a northern end on bank farthest from the road (far left). GPS co-ordinates E174.384315 S-35.931963 (co-ordinates standing on road) - on Google maps you will see a little pond.

The resident Little grebe pair have a nest once again and the Grey duck pair mentioned are also still around today.
