A possible sound recording of the bird from Grey Valley has been released. It was recorded on March 24th, and can be found here around half way down the page: http://www.southislandkokako.org/the-search/

A recent 'sighting': https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/10842290 ... anted-bird
It's hard to think of another grey bird with orange wattles, but strange things do happen in people's minds. The Gouland Downs looks very different to anywhere a NI kokako would hang out.

Awesome!
Lets hope this is sighted again... and photographed!
Gouland Downs is definitely in the natural range of this bird.
Historically recorded from the alpine zone to sea-level.
