ID thoughts on this strange passerine at Akaroa?

No shuffling of wings noted. The bird sat upright and sang. Ive been looking at lots of flycatchers and similar species over the last 5 weeks while birding through indonesia and malaysia, and yeah, nothing other than odd Dunnock fits this bird.
