Hello!

I have just recently moved to Diamond Harbour, Banks Peninsular Christchurch. I am very new to learning about all the birds that now surround me that I rarely saw in the city. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what this sounds is that I have recorded? To me it sounds like a sort of bird? It only happens at night.
But as I said i'm very new to learning about the birds on the peninsular and I wouldn't be surprised if its something else different.. possum?
It usually makes that first louder noise then continues with the quieter noise but I did put two of the recordings together of the louder and the quieter noises.

Time to set a trap perhaps.

Could be a good time of year to trap possums, I just caught my fourth in a fortnight this morning, after getting none for months. Got this one using carrot for bait (in a Timms trap), since the local silvereyes had started helping themselves to the apple I'd been using. One thing that may have upped my recent success rate is that I started sprinkling a bit of cinnamon on the bait and around the trap - seems to work!
