Far North Dog Management Policy review

Far North District Council is proposing new rules for dogs in the District. Of interest to birders might be the rules around dogs on beaches.
Unless otherwise specified through the rules above:
..
 Dogs are allowed on beaches off-leash all year, except from 1 December to 31 March
between 9am and 6pm when dogs must be on-leash, as well as all public holidays.

As usual, the limited restrictions are only to protect people, not wildlife. The mere presence of a dog, on leash or not, is enough to disturb and distress shorebirds.
If this concerns you, make a submission.

As matter of interest I haven't seen a badly behaved dog here in Queensland since I arrived.

Dogs everywhere, but zero pit bull /staffy crosses which is a refreshing change from the dangerous dogs that infest NZ.

Mind you, Aussie wildlife can mostly take care of it's self.

Here's an example of dog rules around a shorebirds habitat in chch. It might be an example they could think about up north?
