Re: Who is using white alphanumeric flags on knots??

Hi folks, back in NZ now and flicking through dozens of photographs from Pantai Jono in Sumatra - I've found a distant shot of what I assume is the white-flagged bird as its about 20m away from the spot where I saw the bird. However I'm not 100% sure as there's no obvious lettering and lthough a really crappy pic that doesn't show bill structure very well, some of the checst, flank markings suggests this one is a Great Knot rather than Red Knot, so maybe infact not the same bird.
As you can see, the group of birds in the foreground is a mix of Red Knot and Great Knot. The bird is by itself foraging over dead coral in the background.
Here's the full photo and a couple of enlargements. Its too grainy to make out letters although they were obvious thru a scope in the field.
