Hi everyone. Does anyone know where the WF Tern gang from the Sumner/Avon-Heathcote estuary generally roost up at present?

Haven't been down to check on the usual South New Brighton Godwit roost spot but any info appreciated before Jack and I head out.

There is no colony at the Avon-Heathcote estuary, but there are nearby colonies at Whitewash Head and Godley Head (most easily seen from a boat). There are about 6 or so colonies around the coastline of Banks Peninsula, but the main colonies this year are at the Rakaia Rivermouth delta and the Rangitata Rivermouth. Both are nearling completion of the breeding cycle.

Thanks AC. There used to be a WF Tern roost at red cliffs but take it that one is no longer there. I kind of meant just a roosting site as opposed to a breeding site. Guess its just a matter of getting out and looking. I guess Im just looking for key areas to start looking for commons/arctics (starting close to home) as Im keen to tick a few more tern species off my list this year. Something I havent really chased before. Any other tips appreciated.
