Hi Sav, I saw two CBG at St Anne's on October 23rd last year. They were out on the island in the lagoon, late afternoon.

Thanks Fraser,

Thats the last place that I saw 2 as well, but in Nov 2017. So there might still be some lurking about there?

cheers

a group of us visited St Annes Lagoon last Friday when enroute to and from Kaikoura - no sign of any Cape Barren Geese unfortunately, and also no sign of the Australian Little Grebe that was reported there last year. Oddly, there were in fact very few birds - no big Paradise Shelduck flock, very few shoveler or Grey Teal. Its one of 3 closed game areas in Canterbury (the others being the Rakaia Rivermouth and Ahuriri Lagoon) so there's absolutely no gamebird hunting allowed, but the feel of the place reminded me of a site emptied of birds by shooting. The lagoon is currently full, with no muddy margins - so no B/F Dotterels either.

Anyone been the St Anne's since Andrew's post? Need to drive past late May.
