Hello
Me and the crew are going to Rotorua for the day and we want to know where is the best area for birds?
Cheers

Re: Rotorua Birding Spots
Gosh there's so much
Sulphur Bay (Lake Rotorua) ... always worth a scan ... usual stuff but always worth checking.
Kaharoa (Onaia Gorge) - amazing place - Kokako and bush birds.
Redwoods (Whakarewarewa) - Tomtits, NI Robin, Falcon, occasional whiteheads.
Okere Falls loop track - NI Robin very approachable - singing well today
Nice bush around Lake Tarawera from the Landing, Blue Lake ... just follow the sign posts.
Lake Okataina eastern loop track - whiteheads etc
Lake Okareka board walk is fun ...
Not been to Mokoia Island for a long time now but has NI Saddleback etc
On balance ... I'd head to Kaharoa - and the Onaia Gorge - check the web for directions and footpaths (take the second path not the one by the Car Park - just follow the road around - there's a small pull in).
Cheers
Tim

Hi Tim
Thanks for your reply, we will definitely check out the Redwoods Forest and Sulphur Bay - if we have time we will check out Kaharoa!
