Well I guess the word "tit" has it's roots in meaning "small"
and they're all small birds.
But yeah, still strange

This fantail is very puzzling to me. Its tail looks right for the New Zealand Fantail, but what about its body?

Local mother-of-pearl art of a fantail with telltale extra facial markings. I think that I have found the exact photograph of an Australian Grey Fantail that it is based on, too, minus the tail.

Latest newspaper advert from fisher funds. It looks like they have a NZ kingfisher on their logo but the promotional imagery seems to pretty much always be a European kingfisher - which is kinda jarring giving the exclusively “kiwi-centric” nature of the services being promoted in the advert:
But, wait!, there’s more!….. turn the page in the same newspaper (CHCH Press 2 June 2021) and there’s another half page advert!
And turn the page again, and another one!! Maximum exposure for “the wrong kingfisher “….,!

Fisher funds are worldwide. Even though they don't use the correct kingfisher, does it really matter? Kingfishers are birds that everyone recognises. Might be time to close this thread, Andrew, now you have the most views anyone could possibly do!

Another confusing fantail.
There's definitely something off about that black stilt!
A juvenile swamp harrier.
