Reef heron On Te horo paddocks seem unlikely I live near there and find that very unlikely.

Agreed I have been to that hotspot 21 times and have never seen a reef heron, I think it’s confused with a white faced heron

I was just looking though the Wellington list on eBird: https://ebird.org/region/NZ-WGN

There are a bunch of clearly captive birds recorded there, at Nga Manu (NI Brown Kiwi), Wellington Zoo (Cape Barren Goose), and Staglands (Helmeted Guineafowl, Golden Pheasant, Emu, Rainbow Lorikeet, and [Carolina] Wood Duck).

Also Spotted Doves and Brown Quail at Zealandia.

The really old records for Wedge-tailed Eagle and Huia are interesting though.
