Captive goldfinch

A little outside the usual bounds of conversation here, but does anyone know of anyone keeping captive goldfinches?

I have seen them in Bird shows i went to a number of years ago, Even had Greenfinchs and blackbirds.

Years and Years ago before I became interested in bird watching, myself and my son had 2 Goldfinch in a cage. We only had them for a week before one killed the other, so we let the other one go. We were told at the time that they were great birds to keep and got on well. We got them from the local pet shop. We have never, ever had any more birds after that.

Keeping birds in a small cage is nothing but cruel.
