Both day trips out of Westport went ahead and tried two different spots both 12 miles out and approximately 150m depth. Still what you might call in shore but we had plenty of action both days but disappointingly a bit lite on diversity.

Highlights -

White Capped Albert 60 + at one stage, common both days
Campbell Albert. 2 (Saturday)
Buller’s Albert 1 brief fly by (Saturday)
N. Giant Petrel 1 brief fly by. (Sunday)
Cape Petrel. 4. (ssp Snares)
Westland Petrel 10+ - seen regularly all day on chum.
Common Diving Petrel 5+
Fairy Prion Common in large groups 30+ birds on chum.
Fluttering Shearwater. Regularly seen passing and a couple amongst the chum.
Sooty Shearwater. 1
Grey backed Storm Petrel (2) regularly seen on the Sunday in chum line
White fronted Tern 1 bird feeding amongst the chum
Gannet.

One large whale also seen -ID to be confirmed
