SPRING 2023 : The Petrel Station pelagic seabird tours (offshore from Tutukaka, Northland, New Zealand).

Here's The Petrel Station pelagic seabird tour dates for spring 2023:
– 25 September (Monday) - TRIP FULL
– 2 October (Monday)
– 16 October (Monday)
– 22 October (Sunday) - only 2 places left
– 27 & 28 October (Fri & Sat) - 3 places left of Fri, only 1 place left on Sat.
– 1 November (Wednesday) - only 2 places left
– 12 & 13 November (Sun & Mon)
– 18 November (Saturday) - TRIP FULL
– 24 November (Friday)
– 8 December (Friday)
– 16 December (Saturday)

In the spring months, all the local breeding seabird species are back in the area in great numbers so there’s always lots of activity on the water. Buller’s Shearwater and Fairy Prion are around in the thousands and are a spectacular birdwatching experience seeing them in the massive feeding workups. Also it’s prime migration time for seabirds heading back through on the way to their southern ocean breeding areas and we've had plenty of scarcer species put in an appearance at this time of year. And the Grey Noddy (Ternlet) usually begin to return in December.

Get in touch if you’re keen for a great day out with some stunning seabirds - The best way to experience these seabirds is out on the ocean, in their world :)

Hi all

I've just added another SPRING double header seabird pelagic running on 2 consecutive days on 27/28 October 2023 – there is currently only 2 spaces left on both days.

Spring is always a very active time out on the ocean and late October is the time of year when we've had Chatham Mollymawk and South Polar Skua turn up for the past 3 years.

So get in touch if you’re keen for a great day out with some stunning seabirds.

And check out our website: www.thepetrelstation.nz for other trip dates, trip info and reports, and the seabirds that we've had show up on past spring pelagics :)

Cheers

Demand for The Petrel Station spring season seabird tours has been amazing, so I've added yet another tour on 10 December 2023. I've also gots lots of tours scheduled for Summer 2024 too.

EXTRA SPRING TOUR ADDED! 11 DECEMBER 2023
All The Petrel Station spring season seabird tours are full now, so I've decided to add one more, end of year, spring tour date on 11 December 2023. We saw some outstanding seabirds on the last years epic 10 Dec 2022 tour (inc. Gould's Petrel, White-necked Petrel, South Polar Skua, Long-tailed Skua and Chatham Mollymawk). Naturally there's no guarantees what will be out there on the day, but the only way to find out is to get out on the ocean and have a look - it's always a great day out.

There's currently 6 spaces left on the tour so be in quick if you're keen to get out to see some stunning seabirds – I've also gots lots of tours scheduled for Summer and Autumn 2024 too.
