WINTER 2024 : The Petrel Station pelagic seabird tours, Tutukaka, New Zealand

The Petrel Station seabird tours WINTER 2024 dates have been released (June to August) – check out the tour dates at:

The colder winter months are when the albatross and a mix of southern seabirds come north up to our area, and we’ve had some real winter rarities show up during this time as well. Past visitors have included Blue Petrel, Pink-footed Shearwater, 4 Prion species to name a few so there’s no telling what could turn up. The local winter breeding seabirds are also around in good numbers too. Check out the 'Seabirds' and 'Trip reports' sections of The Petrel Station website to see what species have been recorded during this season.

If you’re interested in coming out on a pelagic birding tour to The Petrel Station then get in touch – it’s always a great day out birdwatching. And the best way to experience these stunning seabirds is out on the ocean, in their world :)

The tours are based offshore from Tutukaka, in Northland, New Zealand.

With the last of The Petrel Station autumn seabird tours this weekend it means the winter tours are just around the corner :)

There's still plenty of space on the scheduled tours, which includes a tour to coincide with World Albatross Day (on 19 June) so if you’re interested in coming out for some winter seabird action then check out the upcoming tour dates at:

LAST WINTER 2024 SEABIRD TOURS
There's now only 2 winter season seabird tours left for 2024 and there's still some spaces available on them.

This is when the albatross and a mix of southern seabirds come north, the local winter breeding seabirds are around, and the chance for some real winter rarities (such as Light-mantled Sooty Albatross, Grey-backed Storm Petrel, Blue Petrel...). It’s always a great day out, and the best way to experience these stunning seabirds is out on the ocean, in their world :)
