SUMMER 2025 : The Petrel Station pelagic seabird tours, Tutukaka, New Zealand

Postby ourspot » Mon May 06, 2024 12:39 pm

The Petrel Station seabird tours SUMMER 2025 dates have now been released for January to March 2025 – you can check out all the upcoming tour dates at: www.thepetrelstation.nz

In summer, all the local seabirds are around in good numbers, the Grey Noddy are back, the NZ Storm Petrels always put on a great show with some impressive numbers (we've had up to 100 seen at once!), and it's always a great game of Pycroft's vs Cook's Petrel out on the boat. And as the oceans warm up there’s the chance of semi-tropical birds making an appearance too (ie. Black-winged Petrel, White-necked Petrel, Kermadec Petrel, Wedge-tailed Shearwater), so there’s no telling what could turn up.

If you’re interested in coming out on a pelagic birding tour to The Petrel Station then get in touch – it’s always a great day out birdwatching. And the best way to experience these stunning seabirds is out on the ocean, in their world :)

The tours are based offshore from Tutukaka, in Northland, New Zealand.

Cheers
Scott Brooks

Hi all

With the last couple of spring season seabird tours out to The Petrel Station coming up this week it means the summer pelagic tours are just around the corner :)

With Grey Noddy and Black-winged Petrel already back, and a Wedge-tailed Shearwater on last weekend's tour it's a a sure sign that summer is beginning. Along with the regular summer seabird species there also the possibility of other semi-tropical birds making a summer appearance too (ie. White-necked Petrel, Kermadec Petrel, Gould's Petrel).

The summer seabird tours are already starting to fill up (with the January tours already full), so if you’re interested in coming out for some summer seabird action then check out the upcoming tour dates at:
