16th October 12.15, meeting at the Bridge Of Remembrance, Cashel Street, Christchurch, walking to Victoria Park in protest at plans to dam the currently unspoilt upper Hurunui River, a river also important for a reasonable number of breeding Black-fronted Terns.
Turn out and show your support for keeping the river undespoiled for everybody, and not used as a watery cash cow for a relatively small number of people. The more people that turn out the louder the message to the statutory authorities and Government that large-scale irrigation and power schemes at the expense of ecology and the populace's recreation and enjoyment are not acceptable.

Re: Hurunui River protest
It made the radio news and sounds like there was a decent turn out. Good.
