There have been quite a few around this week near Omataroa (South of Whakatane), as well as a long-tailed cuckoo

A single bird calling in Pukerua Bay this morning.

No birds heard in the Tararuas east of Levin over 3 days 26/28 Sep.
Good numbers of Tomtit and a reasonable number of Whitehead seen and heard and a single kakariki heard and seen near Te Matawai Hut.

cheers

Heard my first one yesterday in Gordonton (Waikato). We don't get many here (none at all last year) so always a nice thing.

Heard my first one today in the AC Baths carpark (a pool in Taupo). It’s my first for the season and my life list.
