Spoonbills in Orewa Estuary

Postby Mandyjane » Thu Apr 23, 2020 10:17 am

Hi Everyone - 6 Spoonbills were reported yesterday in the Orewa Estuary on a local FB page - at the top end (west end) where it turns into a river. I saw 3 flying yesterday evening and one flew overhead whilst I was walking near the top end this morning, its high tide and I couldnt see anymore but I would say they are still around. Enjoy..

Hi Mandy, Have been seeing sporadic numbers on and off since March. Twelve yesterday (24/4/20) on sandbank off Western Reserve at high tide, photographed and also posted to same local FB page as well as recording in NZBirdAtlas.
